Job Title: Teaching Assistant – SEMH/Behaviour Support

Axcis Education is recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bedminster from mid-January 2026. This role focuses on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to feel safe, supported and engaged in their learning. About the Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. • Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to support emotional regulation. • Work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to create a structured, nurturing learning environment. • Encourage engagement with learning while supporting positive relationships with peers and adults. • Promote independence, resilience and self-confidence in the pupils you support. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a resilient, patient and compassionate Teaching Assistant who: • Has experience supporting children with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs (highly desirable). • Remains calm and proactive in challenging situations. • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills. • Works well as part of a team and is committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
