Axcis Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Yeovil seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

The Role
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH and SEND needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop the confidence to succeed both academically and socially.
You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff, providing support within lessons, small groups, and on a 1:1 basis where required.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting students with SEMH and SEND needs
• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Providing classroom, small group, and 1:1 support
• Encouraging engagement, participation, and independence
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Assisting students in overcoming barriers to learning
• Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams
• Promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
• Have personal or professional experience supporting individuals with SEMH or SEND
• Have worked as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Care Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or in a similar role
• Are patient, empathetic, and resilient
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Are passionate about helping young people succeed
• Can remain calm and positive when faced with challenges
• Are looking for a rewarding career within education
