We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team at a mainstream primary school in Lyme Regis, Dorset. The successful candidate will be providing both 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and whole-class support under the direction of the class teacher.
As a Teaching Assistant, your contributions will be vital in not only helping the individual student achieve their full potential but also in aiding the overall classroom environment to ensure it is inclusive and supportive for all students.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide 1:1 support to a student with ASC, ensuring they are engaged, supported, and able to access the curriculum effectively.
- Aid in the development of social skills and independence for the pupil with ASC through tailored interventions.
- Deliver maths and literacy booster sessions to small groups or individual students to support their educational development.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment to make it conducive for all learners.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to plan and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and report on the progress of the pupil with ASC, as well as other students in booster sessions.
- Help manage classroom behavior by using strategies agreed upon by the teaching team.
- Participate in professional development and training programs as required.
- Ensure that all activities conform to the school's safety and welfare requirements, and support the school's policies and ethos.

**About You**:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, ideally within a mainstream educational setting.
- Experience working with children with ASC and a good understanding of their needs and challenges.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to run effective booster sessions.
- NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient and nurturing disposition.
- Ability to work flexibly and adaptively with staff and children alike.
