**Job Description:**
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and supportive team at a secondary school located in Andover. This role is ideal for Teaching Assistants who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and are committed to supporting their educational journey.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Work directly with secondary school students with ASC, implementing individualised education programs to cater to their specific needs.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of tailored lessons that engage and inspire learning in students with special educational needs.
- Foster a safe, positive, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes student well-being and development.
- Employ a range of strategies to promote effective communication and social skills among students with ASC.
- Provide one-on-one support to students, addressing their academic, emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, specialists, and parents to evaluate student progress and adjust educational plans accordingly.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities focused on SEN education, particularly ASC.
- Manage behavioural interventions, ensuring they are consistent with school policies and the students’ personal needs.
**Requirements:**
- Understanding and patience to work effectively with children and young people with a range of learning needs, especially autism.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with both students and colleagues.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work with students of varying needs and to assist in various academic subjects and activities.
- Willingness to undergo any necessary additional training specific to the role.
- Enhanced DBS check or willing to undergo one.
