Job Title: Teaching Assistant
**Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities – SEND)** **Location: Shaftesbury, Dorset** **Job Type: Full-Time** **Hours: 8.30 am to 3.30 pm** **Salary: £90 per day (PAYE)** ### Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded educational institution in Shaftesbury, Dorset. This role requires a teaching assistant who is experienced in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The ideal teaching assistant will be someone who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping every student achieve their full potential. ### Responsibilities: - Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). - Provide support for individual students, both inside and outside the classroom, to enable them to fully participate in activities. - Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary to support the needs of the students. - Adapt resources and materials to meet the learning needs of children with SEND. - Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to the classroom teacher. - Support the classroom teacher in creating a safe, positive and stimulating learning environment. - Encourage students to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher. - Assist with the planning and preparation of lessons specifically tailored to students with SEND. - Help manage class behaviour and maintain a calm and focused environment for learning. - Ensure the health and safety of students at all times. ### Qualifications & Experience: - Prior experience working with children who have special educational needs and disabilities is essential. - An understanding of the challenges faced by students with learning difficulties and a range of disabilities. - Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals. - A patient, caring and adaptable personality, able to deal with unexpected challenges. - An up-to-date DBS check or willingness to obtain one. ### We Offer: - A supportive and collaborative working environment. - Opportunities for professional development and training in SEND. - The chance to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs.
