Teaching Assistant
Location: Blandford Forum, Dorset
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Pay Rate: £89–£95 per day
An opportunity has arisen for a committed and professional Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school located in Blandford Forum. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and group support to Key Stage 2 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and contribute to wider classroom activities to promote engagement and academic progress for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide targeted 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN, promoting inclusion and access to learning
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, resource organisation, and classroom management
• Support the monitoring and recording of pupil progress in core subjects including reading, writing, and mathematics
• Contribute to pupil assessments, Individual Education Plan (IEP) reviews, and relevant documentation
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to implement and review support strategies
Person Specification:
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in supporting pupils with SEN (preferred)
• A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with children
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• A valid driving licence and access to transport, due to the school’s rural location
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
