Job Title: Teaching Assistant
1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant
Full-Time | Term Time Only | September Start
A welcoming and inclusive primary school is seeking a committed and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join the team from September. This rewarding role involves supporting a pupil with additional needs on an individual basis, helping them to thrive both academically and socially within the classroom environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, the SEND team and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives consistent, tailored support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs
Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in lessons
Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction
Support emotional regulation and implement behaviour strategies where required
Adapt classroom activities and learning resources to meet individual needs
Liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents and outside agencies
Monitor progress and contribute to observations and record keeping
Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting
Understanding of SEND, including ASD, ADHD or speech and language needs
A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to remain calm and positive under pressure
Good literacy and numeracy skills
A genuine commitment to supporting children’s wellbeing and development
