Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Early Years Autism Support – Primary School – Tower Hamlets From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a warm and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support children in the Early Years with autism, communication needs and sensory processing differences. The school has a nurturing EYFS team, strong SEND leadership and a clear focus on early intervention. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with younger children and understands the importance of routine, patience and communication in helping pupils feel safe and ready to learn. The school is well connected via DLR, Underground and local bus routes, making it easily accessible from across East London. About the Role You will be supporting children in Nursery and Reception who require additional support with communication, social interaction, regulation and engagement. You will: • Support pupils with autism and early communication needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis • Use visual supports, structured routines and sensory strategies • Encourage play-based learning, turn-taking and social interaction • Support pupils with transitions, emotional regulation and classroom routines • Work closely with the EYFS team, SENCO and external professionals • Help create a calm, consistent and nurturing learning environment What We’re Looking For • Experience supporting children with autism or SEND • EYFS or early years experience is highly desirable • Calm, patient and nurturing approach • Confidence using visuals, PECS or Makaton would be beneficial • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role This is a brilliant opportunity to join a school where early support is taken seriously and every small step of progress is celebrated.
