Axcis are supporting a well-led and inclusive primary school in Barking & Dagenham who are seeking a confident and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH, emotional regulation needs and behaviour-related barriers to learning.
The school has a strong pastoral approach, with clear routines, visible leadership and a staff team who understand the importance of consistency and positive relationships. This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, confident supporting behaviour and able to build trust with children who may need additional emotional support to feel settled and ready to learn.
The school is accessible by local transport routes and offers parking for staff where available.
About the Role
You will be supporting pupils across the primary phase who require additional help with behaviour, engagement, confidence and emotional regulation. Some support may be delivered 1:1, while other parts of the role may involve small-group or classroom-based support.
You will:
• Support pupils with SEMH needs and behaviour-related challenges
• Use positive behaviour strategies, consistency and calm communication
• Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
• Support transitions, routines and unstructured parts of the school day
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team to support individual plans
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting children with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Confidence setting boundaries while remaining supportive and approachable
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Ability to remain consistent in a busy school environment
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a visible difference to pupils who need structure, encouragement and a consistent adult in school.
