Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – SEN (Autism & SLD) Location: Castlebar, London Start Date: September 2026 (Trial Days Available ASAP) Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Working Hours: Monday to Friday | School Hours Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Special Educational Needs setting in Castlebar Ealing from September 2026. Trial days are available immediately for suitable candidates. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and additional complex needs. You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to help deliver individualised learning programmes and create a positive, inclusive learning environment. You will be working in a classroom with children upto 7, at primary age, with two or three other SEND TA's and 1 teacher. Key Responsibilities -Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism and additional learning needs. -Support communication and engagement using strategies such as PECS and Makaton where appropriate. -Assist pupils with personal care requirements when needed. -Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning targets. -Promote a structured, safe, and engaging learning environment. -Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff. -Contribute to planning, review, and progress meetings with the wider team. -Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and social development. Requirements -Previous experience supporting children with Autism, SLD, SEN, or within an Early Years setting. -Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods is desirable. -Willingness to support pupils with personal care needs. -Patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children. -Ability to commit to a full-time position from September 2026. -Relevant safeguarding checks and references required.
