Location: Hillingdon (Near Hillingdon Station) Start Date: 1st September 2026 Trial Days: Available from July 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Full Academic Year Commitment Required) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About the School Axcis Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded mainstream primary school located near Hillingdon Station to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in September 2026. Trial days are available from July 2026, giving successful candidates the opportunity to secure their role ahead of the new academic year. The Role This rewarding position involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a mainstream classroom setting. You will play a key role in supporting the pupil’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them to engage positively in school life and make consistent progress. The school is looking for someone who can build strong, positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries. You must be calm, resilient, patient, and confident in managing behaviour using a firm but fair approach tailored to the child’s needs. Key Responsibilities Provide consistent and structured 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism. Support access to learning and participation in all classroom activities. Implement tailored learning, communication, and behaviour strategies. Promote positive behaviour through clear expectations and consistent routines. Support social, emotional, and academic development. Encourage independence, confidence, and positive peer interactions. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team. Build strong, professional relationships with parents and carers. Monitor progress and feedback to relevant staff. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) in a mainstream primary setting. Experience with ADHD and additional behavioural needs (desirable). Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in setting boundaries. Experience supporting SEMH needs (highly desirable). A patient, resilient, and proactive approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
