Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant 1-1 TA Swindon We are on the lookout for an experienced teaching assistant (TA) to support a child autism. The school is a large, mainstream secondary school, easily accessible by the bus service, and has an on-site carpark; however this can be hard to navigate after 8.45 due to the large influx of latecomers! Luckily, your hours will be 8.30 to 3.30 so you should have no problem with this! The student you will be working with is passionate about several sports, particularly basketball and badminton. He loves running after a ball but hates running without a reason (although he enjoys helping his classmates’ races by being in charge of the timer!). He is a lovely, y9 boy who loves chatting with staff and pupils. He struggles with communication, and can find this very upsetting, so you will need to be calm, patient and support him to develop his communication skills. Experience or qualifications focused on communication would be a plus, particularly Makaton or PECS. You will also need to be able to build a strong relationship with the student, as they have been let down by adults in the past. This post is ongoing, and will become permanent for the right person if that is what is best for the student. It is full time, Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 3.30. If interested in this post, please use the contact details below! Please note that for this role, you will need to have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to get one.
