Job Title: Teaching assistant
Location: L18 Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm Salary: From £93-96 per day, depending on experience Start date: September Axcis Education are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive teaching assistant to join our college team. This is an exciting opportunity to support students in achieving their academic, social, and personal development goals within a positive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities • Support students in lessons, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. • Work alongside teaching staff to deliver engaging learning activities. • Provide support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies. • Encourage student independence, confidence, and participation. • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with teaching staff and support teams. • Promote safeguarding, equality, and the wellbeing of all learners. Essential Requirements: • Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). • A valid Enhanced Child and adult DBS on the DBS Update Service. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Desirable: • Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or equivalent. • Experience working within a college, school, or alternative provision. • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management techniques. • First Aid or Team Teach/Positive Behaviour Support training.
