1:1 Teaching Assistant – PRU / Alternative Provision Location: Huyton Job Type: Full-Time | Long-Term | Term Time Only Start Date: Immediate or October 2026 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Immediate & October Starts Are you experienced in supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs? A specialist pupil referral and alternative provision setting in Huyton is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide consistent support to a pupil who requires additional help to access education. The setting supports young people who may have struggled within mainstream education and benefit from a smaller, more structured and individualised learning environment. The Role As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day • Help the pupil engage with lessons and overcome barriers to learning • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour • Encourage confidence, communication and independence • Support transitions, break times and wider school activities • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals • Share observations and feedback around progress, behaviour and engagement • Help maintain a calm, safe and structured learning environment What We're Looking For We're keen to hear from candidates with experience supporting children or young people with: • SEMH • Challenging behaviour • Autism or ADHD • Communication difficulties • SEND or additional learning needs Experience within a PRU, alternative provision, SEN school, mainstream school, care or youth work setting would be beneficial.
