SEND Teaching Assistant – Flexible Day-to-Day Cover | Potential Permanent Role Location: Brent, London – short walk from Kensal Rise Station Setting: SEND Primary & Secondary School Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm Position: Flexible Day-to-Day Cover | Opportunity to Trial | Potential Full-Time & Permanent Role About the Role Axcis Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded SEND Primary and Secondary School in Brent, conveniently located within walking distance of Kensal Rise and Brondesbury Park stations. The school also has a linked primary provision nearby, creating a strong and supportive SEND education community across both settings. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join the school on a flexible, day-to-day basis, starting ASAP. For the right candidate, there is strong potential for the role to develop into a full-time, permanent position. The day-to-day arrangement provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to trial the school, get to know the pupils and staff, and experience the setting before committing to a longer-term position. The school is well known for its warm and collaborative culture, supportive leadership and purpose-built SEND facilities designed to support pupils with a wide range of complex needs. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Autism and complex SEND needs, in line with their EHCPs. Support learning interventions alongside teachers and the wider SEND team. Use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS or similar systems to support communication, engagement and understanding. Provide personal care support where required, always in a respectful and professional manner. Support pupils' social, emotional, communication and life skills development. Help create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Work flexibly across the school's SEND primary and secondary provisions where required. Build positive relationships with pupils and support them to achieve their individual goals. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will: Have experience supporting children or young people with Autism and/or complex SEND. Be confident using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton. Be comfortable supporting pupils with personal care needs where required. Be adaptable and confident working across both primary and secondary SEND settings. Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Be a strong team player who works well alongside teachers and other professionals. Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one. Be open to flexible day-to-day work with the potential to transition into a long-term permanent role. Have availability to start ASAP. Why Join This School?
