Axcis Education is proud to be working closely with a fantastic all-through special school in Barnstaple. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team and support a bubbly KS2 class of pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and SCLN (Speech, Communication & Language Needs). Start date: As soon as possible Hours: 9:00am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday, term time only) This is a vibrant and dynamic class with excellent sensory provision in place. The pupils are full of energy – particularly after a long summer break – and require consistency, structure, and support to emotionally regulate throughout the day. Your role will involve: -Supporting pupils to access their learning and achieve their potential -Remaining calm and patient when helping pupils through moments of dysregulation -Using sensory strategies and resources to support engagement -Working collaboratively with the class teacher and wider SEND team -Providing encouragement, structure, and reassurance throughout the day We are looking for someone who: -Has experience working with children or adults with ASD and complex needs -Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour -Is passionate about supporting children with SEND to thrive -Can commit to a full-time, term-time position This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people while working in a supportive and welcoming school environment.
