Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Tower Hamlets From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to support students who may need additional help with learning, confidence, communication and emotional regulation. The school has a strong pastoral structure, an experienced SENCO and a clear focus on helping students feel safe, understood and able to access the curriculum. Based in East London, the school is well connected by Tube, DLR, Overground and local bus routes, making it easily accessible from Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Barking and surrounding areas. About the Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students across KS3 and KS4 within mainstream lessons, small-group interventions and occasional 1:1 support. You will help students stay focused, understand tasks and develop confidence in their learning. You will: • Support students with additional needs across KS3 and KS4 • Work with pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs or mild learning difficulties • Help students access lessons, break down tasks and stay engaged • Support emotional regulation, organisation and positive behaviour • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team • Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships • Provide consistent support during lessons, transitions and wider school routines What We’re Looking For • Previous experience supporting young people in a school, SEND, youth work, mentoring or care setting • Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties would be highly desirable • A calm, patient and consistent approach • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Confidence working in a busy secondary school environment • Ability to use initiative and adapt support to individual student needs • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build strong secondary SEND experience in a school where inclusion and pastoral support are central to the way pupils are supported.
