Job Title: SEND Lunchtime Assistant

From £14.25 per hour.
Axcis Education is recruiting a caring and enthusiastic lunchtime assistant / SEND support assistant to join a wonderful, highly rated specialist school in Sutton. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and associated behavioural needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in SEN education, learning support, care work, youth work, or anyone looking to build a career supporting children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and support pupils with SEND during lunchtime.
• Support children with ASD, ADHD, PMLD, and additional learning needs.
• Assist with personal care, including eating, drinking, and toileting when required.
• Encourage independence, communication, and social interaction.
• Support pupils in accessing play, leisure, and outdoor activities safely.
• Monitor pupil wellbeing and respond appropriately to behavioural or emotional needs.
• Work closely with school staff to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEN, ASD, ADHD, or PMLD.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Support Worker, Care Assistant, Youth Worker, or Lunchtime Supervisor is desirable.
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence supporting personal care needs.
• A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
