Position: SEND Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Cobham, Surrey
Hours: Full-time, Monday?–?Friday, 08:30?–?11:30 (30-hour week)
Salary: Paid to Scale (National Minimum/ Living Wage Scale)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support a vibrant, inclusive classroom environment in Cobham, Surrey. Working closely with the class teacher and the SEND coordinator, you will provide targeted assistance to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), promoting their academic progress, social development, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver differentiated support to individual students and small groups during the morning session.
• Implement and adapt lesson materials, visual aids, and assistive technologies as directed.
• Monitor student engagement, record observations, and communicate progress to the teacher and parents.
• Support behaviour management strategies, ensuring a safe and respectful learning space.
• Assist with daily routines, including transitions, sensory breaks, and personal care where needed.
• Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
Essential Criteria
• Experience working with children who have SEND (e.g., ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, physical impairments).
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, GCSEs in English & Maths).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a proactive, solution-focused attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
