Job Title: SEND Teacher (PMLD and Challenging Behaviour)

A college in Haringey is seeking an experienced and passionate SEND Teacher to join their team, supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), challenging behaviours, and other complex needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for educators committed to helping students achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver personalised lessons focusing on:
Life skills, communication, and independence development
Engaging, practical, and hands-on activities to meet individual needs
Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Use behaviour management strategies to support students with challenging behaviours.
Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Work closely with support staff and external specialists to provide holistic support.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, adapting plans as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
Prior experience teaching students with PMLD and challenging behaviours (preferably in a college or SEND setting).
Resilience, patience, and empathy, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Familiarity with alternative communication methods such as Makaton or PECS (desirable).
Flexibility to adapt to changing timetables and student needs.
A valid DBS check on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
