Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Full-Time Teaching Assistant (1:1 ASD Support) – Immediate Start
Location: Uxbridge
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated teaching assistant to join a lovely primary school in Uxbridge. This role involves working 1:1 with a Year 1 boy who has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The position is full-time, long-term, and available for an immediate start.
Role Details:
-Provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 boy with ASD, following a personalised timetable.
-Help the student maintain focus, set clear boundaries, and follow directions.
-The child is articulate and has a great sense of fun, but requires support when demands trigger challenging behaviour, such as breaking objects (rarely towards others).
-The student follows a sensory diet, and benefits from sensory tools and strategies to help him manage his energy and emotions.
-The child is socially isolated, so he will need someone patient, engaging, and creative to help him develop social skills and connections.
Requirements:
-Must be firm yet gentle in setting boundaries, balancing being quietly assertive with providing nurturing support.
-Experience working with children with ASD and understanding of sensory diets and other needs.
-Confident in using initiative to adapt strategies that will engage the child.
-Must have an enhanced DBS on the update service.
-Ability to keep the student engaged, motivated, and on task, while managing any challenging behaviour.
