Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant, Part-time
Location: Leamington Spa Job Type: Part-Time, Term Time Only Salary: £14.25 per hour Start Date: September Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Leamington Spa. This rewarding 1:1 Teaching Assistant role involves supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive within the school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, who are looking to make a meaningful difference in a primary school setting. The school has a strong community ethos and is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with autism and PDA. • Adapt learning and communication strategies to meet the individual needs of the child. • Build positive, trusting relationships by understanding the child's interests, strengths, and support needs. • Support the child’s social, emotional, and academic development. • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to ensure effective support is in place. • Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Requirements • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly autism and/or PDA. • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a school team. • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
