Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Position: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Godalming, Surrey Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday (08:00?–?15:30) Salary: Paid to scale About the role We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive primary/secondary setting in Godalming. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they access the curriculum safely and confidently. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to SEND pupils, adapting activities to meet individual learning goals. • Assist the teacher in implementing personalised education plans (PEPs) and behaviour strategies. • Monitor and record pupil progress, communicating observations to the SENCO and parents. • Facilitate social and life-skills development, encouraging independence and confidence. • Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment and uphold safeguarding policies. • Contribute to team meetings, staff development sessions and collaborative planning. Essential Qualifications & Experience • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). • Experience supporting children with SEND (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech, or physical impairments). • Strong communication and organisational skills; ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families and staff. • Understanding of UK SEND legislation and inclusive practice.
