Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants and School Care Assistants to join a specialist SEND school in Southport. We have both full-time and part-time Teaching Assistant jobs available, supporting children and young people aged 4 to 19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in care, support work, healthcare, or education who are passionate about helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.
SEND Teaching Assistant Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs, primarily working with students with:
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Learning difficulties
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
• Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
• Social, emotional and behavioural needs
You will provide classroom support, help students engage with learning, promote independence, and build positive relationships. Some pupils may occasionally display behaviours that challenge, so patience, resilience, and a calm approach are essential.
This role is particularly well suited to candidates from a care background, although previous experience working with children or young people is desirable rather than essential.
School Care Assistant Responsibilities
As part of your role, you will:
• Support students with their learning and daily routines
• Assist with personal care where required
• Work across different age groups from 4 to 19 years
• Encourage communication, independence, and social development
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
The school is looking for staff who can start as soon as possible, with opportunities for permanent contracts for successful candidates.
