About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Tottenham, working within a dedicated high-needs ASD provision.
This is a specialist role suited to candidates with proven, hands-on experience supporting pupils with complex autism in a high-needs or specialist SEND environment.
You will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of needs, including communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and personal care. Working collaboratively with the SENCo, teaching staff, and external professionals, you will help create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with high-needs ASD
• Support pupils with personal care, emotional regulation, and sensory needs, ensuring dignity and safety at all times
• Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies consistently
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver targeted interventions
• Contribute to a calm, structured, and predictable learning environment
• Promote pupils’ independence, communication, and social development
Essential Requirements
• Substantial experience working in a high-needs ASD or specialist SEND setting (e.g. SEN school, ARP, or alternative provision)
• Demonstrable experience supporting children with autism and complex needs, including behaviour management and personal care
• A calm, resilient, and patient approach, particularly in challenging situations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• A clear commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

This position requires prior experience in a high-needs ASD setting and is not suitable for candidates without this background.
