Job Title: Specialist SEN Primary Teaching Assistant, Forest of Dean
Do you have experience with Special Needs? Specifically supporting primary aged pupils? Are you looking for a long term role for at least the academic year but likely ongoing? If so, I want to hear from you. I am working closely with a mainstream school near Dymock in The Forest Of Dean who are looking for two part time Teaching Assistants to work alongside each other every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday working 8.30 - 3.30 The role itself will be supporting a young pupil going into year 1 who is severely Autistic / is non verbal who requires support reintegrating into the classroom. As the pupil currently cant cope in the classroom their is a separate break out space for him where the support will take place initially but the long term hope is to work towards him re-entering the main class. He is loving and happy, isn't violent however when things happen that he cannot verbalise, he becomes upset and finds it hard to express what has made him upset. Due to not feeling settled at school, he doesn't eat much and becomes dysregulated easily and so the school are looking for two people who together can really make a difference to the little boy and help him enjoy school again until he gets a place at a special school which could be as far away as 2026. The right candidate will be someone who is the following: - Reliable - Experienced with SEN, particularly Severe Autism - Preferably has experience with Makaton - Has access to their own transport due to rural location of the school - Is someone resilient, adaptable and experienced - someone who can commit to a year long position every Monday - Wednesday - consistency for the child is key. This role is to start asap but only for the right candidate, someone who matches the above. The pay for this role will be between £102.00- £115.00 per day dependant on experience and you must have an in date DBS in order to work in the school setting - if you don't currently have one, Axcis can support you in obtaining one.
