SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism & SEMH Support – Primary School – Barking & Dagenham From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking & Dagenham who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and learning difficulties. The school is looking for a calm, reliable and proactive Teaching Assistant who can help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to engage with learning. The school has a strong focus on inclusion, positive relationships and consistent routines. Staff work closely together to ensure pupils with additional needs receive the right support throughout the school day, whether that is in the classroom, during small-group interventions or through individual 1:1 support. The school is based in Barking & Dagenham and is accessible by local bus and train routes, with links from Barking, Dagenham, Ilford, Romford and surrounding East London areas. About the Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the primary phase who may need additional help with learning, communication, emotional regulation, confidence and social interaction. You will: • Support pupils with SEND within mainstream classroom settings • Work 1:1 and in small groups with children who have autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs • Use visual supports, structured routines and positive reinforcement strategies • Help pupils with transitions, attention, emotional regulation and classroom expectations • Support speech and language development through clear communication and modelling • Assist the class teacher with adapted resources and differentiated activities • Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction • Work closely with the SENCO and teaching team to follow individual support plans and EHCP targets What We’re Looking For • Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs • Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable • A calm, patient and nurturing approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Confidence building positive relationships with pupils quickly • Good classroom awareness and willingness to use initiative • Reliability, consistency and a genuine passion for inclusive education • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role from September This is a rewarding opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term role in a supportive Barking & Dagenham primary school.
