Axcis Education is proud to be working in partnership with an Outstanding SEND Primary School in Greenford, Ealing, to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants for full-time, long-term positions starting in November 2026.
The school supports primary-aged children with a range of complex SEND needs, including autism, complex learning difficulties, communication needs and sensory processing differences. Many pupils benefit from a highly personalised and sensory-focused approach to learning, including sensory play, sensory activities and practical, hands-on learning experiences.

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide hands-on support to children with complex needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Complex and multiple learning needs
Communication difficulties
Sensory processing differences
Social and emotional needs
Pupils requiring personal care and support with independence
You will help pupils access learning through a combination of structured activities, sensory play and sensory-based learning. This could include supporting pupils with sensory activities, messy play, music, movement and other engaging experiences designed around their individual developmental and learning needs.
You will work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide consistent and personalised support, helping each child develop their communication, independence, confidence, social skills and engagement with learning.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with autism and complex SEND needs.
Support pupils within small classes of up to 10 children.
Use sensory play and sensory-based activities to encourage engagement, exploration and learning.
Support children with complex communication and sensory processing needs.
Create a positive, engaging and structured learning environment.
Help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning targets.
Use communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton where appropriate.
Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Provide personal care where required.
Encourage communication, social interaction, emotional development and independence.
Support positive behaviour through consistent approaches and routines.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and senior leaders.
Monitor and report on pupils' progress, engagement and achievements.
Contribute positively to the school's nurturing, inclusive and child-centred environment.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience supporting children with autism, SEND or complex needs.
An understanding of sensory needs and the importance of sensory play and sensory-based learning.
Experience supporting children with complex learning and communication needs.
Knowledge of PECS and/or Makaton would be beneficial.
Confidence providing personal care where required.
A patient, proactive, adaptable and hands-on approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs develop and succeed.
A willingness to learn and respond positively to training and feedback.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Full-time availability to start in November 2026.
Availability to attend a trial day ASAP.
