Axcis Education is proud to be working in partnership with an Outstanding SEND school in Greenford, with a secondary site in Northolt, Ealing, to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated PMLD/SEND Teaching Assistants for full-time, long-term positions starting in November 2026.

The Role
As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will provide hands-on support to pupils with a range of complex additional needs, including:
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Complex learning difficulties
Communication needs
Sensory processing differences
This is a rewarding and hands-on role where you will play a key part in helping pupils access learning, develop essential life skills and achieve their individual education goals.
You will work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide consistent, personalised support that enables every pupil to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD, autism and complex SEND needs.
Support pupils within small classes of up to 10 children.
Create a positive, engaging and structured learning environment.
Support pupils to access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning targets.
Use communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton to promote engagement and learning.
Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Provide personal care where required.
Encourage pupils' communication, social, emotional and independence skills.
Support positive behaviour through consistent strategies and routines.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and senior leaders.
Monitor, record and report on pupil progress, engagement and achievements.
Contribute to the school's inclusive, supportive and child-centred culture.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience supporting children with PMLD, autism and/or complex SEND needs.
A good understanding of complex learning needs and positive behaviour support.
Experience using PECS, with knowledge of Makaton being advantageous.
Confidence providing personal care when required.
A proactive, patient, adaptable and hands-on approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
The ability to learn quickly and respond positively to training and feedback.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Full-time availability from November 2026.
Availability to attend a trial day immediately or at a mutually convenient time before the November start.
