Job Title: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH / Behavioural Support Location: Sutton Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent Opportunities About the Role We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Sutton who are looking for a committed and resilient 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by providing tailored, individualised support to help the pupil access learning, develop positive behaviour strategies, and achieve their potential. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 classroom support to a pupil with SEMH and behavioural needs. Implement strategies to help manage behaviour and encourage positive choices. Support the pupil with academic work, social skills, and emotional regulation. Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and pastoral team to meet the pupil’s needs. Build a positive, trusting relationship to encourage engagement in learning. About You The school is looking for someone who has: Experience working with children with SEMH and/or behavioural needs (school, youth work, care, or similar). Patience, resilience, and a calm, supportive manner. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly. A proactive attitude and the willingness to adapt to changing situations.
