Salary: £18,000 per annum (actual salary)
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join our team at a specialist SEMH school. Our school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in helping our students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with pupils who have SEMH needs and exhibit challenging behaviours.
- Build trusting relationships with students and act as a positive role model.
- Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to support students both inside and outside the classroom.
- Provide one-to-one and group support to encourage social skills, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to create personalized support plans.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of a stable and nurturing environment that promotes learning and personal growth.
- Monitor and report on students’ progress, and contribute to review meetings.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Support the school's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with young people with SEMH needs.
- Strong experience in managing challenging behaviour and developing behaviour management strategies.
- Exceptional behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to build rapport with students and act as a positive influence.
- Good team player with the ability to work collaboratively and under own initiative.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, tailored to the needs of the students.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo checks).
