Job Title: Care Worker
Axcis Education work closely with a specialist day college serving young adults (16-25) with physical disabilities, complex learning disabilities, and additional learning needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Their ethos emphasises personalised learning, therapeutic support, fostering independence, and meaningful preparation for life after college.
The college caters to students from across Cwmbran, Cardiff, Newport, and surrounding areas, the campus benefits from easy transport links, being within walking distance of a railway station and adjacent to the bus station, as well as ample free parking.
Axcis are seeking creative, empathetic, supportive, engaging, reliable, and committed individuals—especially those with a care background—to join us as Teaching Assistant Cover, supporting learners with PMLD and other complex needs. Candidates will confidently assist with personal care duties, therapeutic activities, and classroom support as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualised support aligned to learners’ Individual Development Plans (IDPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Assist with personal care needs including feeding, mobility, toileting, and sensory support.
Engage with therapeutic programmes, collaborating with speech and language, occupational, and physiotherapy teams.
Participate in creative and sensory-based learning activities such as art, music, IT, and life skills.
Support students in internal and external work-related placements, aiding with communication, numeracy, and functional independence.
What we look for in a care worker:
Experience working in care or education settings, ideally with complex needs, PMLD, and personal care tasks.
Compassionate and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing needs and scenarios.
Creative and engaging, able to facilitate sensory and experiential learning.
Reliable and committed, supported by strong communication skills and teamwork.
Flexible working options: part-time, term-time, short-term, and long-term positions may be available.
