Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Flexible, day-to-day cover supply
Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work in a specialist school?
We are looking for caring, reliable and adaptable SEND TAs to provide cover supply across a specialist SEND school in Reading. You will be supporting pupils of both primary and secondary age with a wide range of additional needs, helping them to engage in learning and develop their independence in a safe, supportive environment.
The pupils
The school supports children and young people with a range of complex needs, including:
Moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD)
Complex and additional needs
Communication and sensory needs
Personal care experience is essential for this role. You may be required to support pupils with toileting, feeding, changing and other aspects of personal care as part of their daily routine.
The role
As a SEND TA, you will:
Support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
Assist with learning and classroom activities
Support communication, interaction and sensory needs
Promote pupils' independence and wellbeing
Provide personal care where required
Help maintain a safe, calm and nurturing learning environment
Follow individual support plans and guidance from teaching staff
Adapt to different classrooms and pupil needs when providing cover
We're looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
Has experience supporting personal care
Is confident supporting pupils with ASD, PMLD and/or severe learning disabilities
Is patient, compassionate and resilient
Can build positive relationships with pupils
Is reliable and adaptable
Works well as part of a wider school team
Is available for flexible, day-to-day cover
