Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work where every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference? We are currently looking for caring, reliable and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistants to provide flexible day-to-day cover at a specialist SEND school in Reading. The school supports pupils across both primary and secondary age ranges, offering a safe, nurturing and highly supportive environment for children and young people with a wide range of complex needs. The role is available on a flexible supply basis, with working hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm and a daily rate of £92.63. It is an ideal opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who values flexibility and enjoys working across different classrooms and with a variety of pupils. You will be supporting pupils who may have moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), complex additional needs, as well as communication and sensory needs. The role will involve working closely with pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, helping them access learning, participate in classroom activities, develop communication and interaction skills, and build greater independence. Personal care experience is essential. As part of the role, you may be required to support pupils with toileting, feeding, changing and other personal care needs, always following individual support plans and the guidance of teaching staff. The successful candidate will be patient, compassionate and resilient, with previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND. You should feel confident working with pupils with ASD, PMLD and/or severe learning disabilities and be able to build positive, trusting relationships. A flexible and adaptable approach is important, as you may be asked to work across different classrooms and respond to the individual needs of pupils throughout the school. You will play an important part in creating a calm, safe and positive learning environment, supporting pupils' wellbeing while encouraging them to become as independent as possible. You will also work closely with teachers and the wider school team to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality support. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who enjoys variety, wants the freedom to choose when they work and is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. If you have the relevant SEND and personal care experience and are looking for flexible day-to-day supply work in Reading, we would love to hear from you.
