Job Title: Full Time SEMH Teaching Assistant
Full Time SEMH Teaching Assistant SEMH Secondary School | Ages 11–16 Full-time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:30pm Long-term, ongoing role We are working with a well-established SEMH secondary school seeking a confident and committed Teaching Assistant (TA) / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team full-time. In this role, you will support a small group of 3–4 students in the classroom alongside the class teacher and another TA. Although the students are secondary-aged (11–16), their academic work is delivered at a primary level due to developmental delays. About the Role: Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Work with students who may have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, and PDA. Follow the teacher’s guidance to maintain a consistent and structured learning environment. Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage student engagement. Promote responsible behaviour by helping students understand actions and consequences. Support both academic progress and emotional regulation. The Ideal Candidate: Has experience working in SEMH or behavioural settings. Demonstrates confidence, resilience, and a calm, firm but fair approach. Possesses strong relationship-building skills and the ability to motivate disengaged learners. Works well within a team and is willing to take direction. Understands de-escalation techniques and behaviour support strategies.
