Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
We are seeking reliable Health Care Assistant to join the team at our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in Wandsworth. Our school supports students aged 4 to 19 who are visually impaired and/or physically disabled, many of whom have complex medical needs.
About the Role:
As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' daily health, comfort, and dignity. Your responsibilities will include:
-Assisting with feeding, including enteral feeding via PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
-Supporting with personal care, including toileting and changing
-Providing support for students with airway management needs, including those with tracheostomies
-Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and medical professionals
-Ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
-Previous experience in a medical, hospital, or care environment is essential
-Experience with PEG feeding is essential
-A caring, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children and young people
-Confidence in delivering personal and medical care
-Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
-A strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
Desirable:
-Experience working in a SEND or educational setting
-Manual handling and basic life support training
-Familiarity with tracheostomy care and visual impairment support strategies
