Job Vacancy: SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH Focus) Location: Hillingdon, Hayes Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full-Time | Monday – Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:15 PM Pay: From £89 per day (PAYE) About the Role: Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? A welcoming and inclusive SEND primary school in Hillingdon (Hayes) is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This full-time position involves working closely with pupils who have EHCPs and often present with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties. You’ll be helping children regulate their emotions, engage with learning, and thrive in a structured, nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: -Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs -Engage students in learning while de-escalating challenging behaviour -Maintain a calm, consistent classroom presence -Collaborate with teachers to implement tailored behaviour and learning plans -Monitor and record progress and incidents in line with safeguarding protocols Ideal Candidate Profile: -Experience working with children with SEMH needs, or within PRU/SEND settings - Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques - Calm, empathetic, and professional under pressure - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Relevant training in safeguarding and behaviour support (desirable) Requirements: -A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service -Prior UK-based experience supporting children in educational settings -Availability to work full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:15 PM) -Confidence in managing pupils with EBD and behavioural challenges Why Apply?
