Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday | 8:20 AM – 3:45 PM
Duration: For the remainder of the academic year, with the possibility of extension
About the Role:
Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and reliable Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded primary school in Romford, Havering. The school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong ties to the local community, and was recently rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED.
This is a full-time position supporting Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils, with a focus on children who require additional help due to SEND, social challenges, or behavioural difficulties.
Your role will include a mix of 1:1 and small group support, with a strong emphasis on phonics-based literacy intervention. Many of the pupils you’ll be supporting have gaps in reading and writing, so a sound understanding of early literacy strategies and phonics is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2, especially those with SEND and behavioural needs
-Deliver and reinforce phonics-based learning to help children strengthen their reading and writing skills
-Support the social and emotional development of children, including helping with self-regulation and building confidence
-Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt lesson content and tailor support to individual pupil needs
-Contribute to intervention sessions and track pupil progress to ensure effective support
-Assist with daily classroom duties such as preparing learning resources, setting up activities, and maintaining a positive learning environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
-Experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
-Confidence in using phonics-based strategies to support literacy development
-A caring, patient, and proactive attitude
-A strong desire to make a difference in the lives of primary-aged children
