Job Title: SEN Teacher (SEMH)
SEN Teacher (SEMH) | From £175/day | Tower Hamlets | September Start | Full Time | Long Term Supply Are you a confident and compassionate teacher with a knack for supporting young people who present with challenging behaviour? We’re working with a specialist PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in Tower Hamlets that caters for KS3 and KS4 students with SEMH needs. Many of the young people here have experienced trauma, struggled in mainstream settings, or need significant emotional and behavioural support to re-engage with learning. Despite the challenges, staff at this setting consistently praise the strong team dynamic, therapeutic culture, and structured yet flexible curriculum approach. The school is easily accessible by DLR and Overground, just minutes from key East London transport hubs. If you're looking for a role where relationships matter just as much as lesson plans — this could be your next opportunity. In this role, you will be: • Teaching a small KS4 group with varied academic and emotional needs • Delivering core subject content (usually English or PSHE focused) • Managing behaviour and promoting a calm, positive learning environment • Working with TAs and support staff to implement pastoral interventions • Supporting students' EHCP outcomes and liaising with therapists and external agencies What we’re looking for: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or unqualified teachers with solid PRU/SEMH experience • Experience working in specialist or alternative provisions with secondary-age learners • Strong behaviour management, trauma-informed practice, and a calm, non-confrontational style • Resilience, humour, and the ability to build lasting relationships with hard-to-reach students If you’re passionate about inclusion, pastoral care, and helping young people turn their education around, this could be the role that makes all the difference. Apply today or reach out to the Axcis East London team to find out more.
