We are working with a friendly and nurturing primary school in Barking and Dagenham who are seeking a teaching assistant to support their KS2 students with moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Many of the children are working several years below expected levels and often have overlapping needs, such as ADHD, speech and language delay or anxiety. The school is known for its warm staff culture, strong SEN leadership and focus on inclusive, child-centred support. Located close to the District Line and with local bus connections, it’s well situated for East London commuters.
In this role, you will be:
• Supporting pupils with MLD in a Year 4 or Year 5 classroom
• Working 1:1 and in small groups on differentiated literacy and numeracy tasks
• Helping with classroom routines and creating visual or scaffolded resources
• Encouraging positive social skills and supporting regulation strategies
• Contributing to pupil progress reviews and liaising with the school SENCO
What we’re looking for:
• Previous experience supporting primary-aged pupils with SEN, particularly MLD or ADHD
• Ability to break down learning in a patient, structured and supportive way
• Calm, positive energy and a genuine interest in child development
• Team player with strong communication skills and a proactive approach
If you’re passionate about helping children with additional needs feel understood and achieve their potential, this could be the role for you. Apply now to join a school that invests in both its students and its support staff.
