Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming special school in Slough. This school supports primary-aged pupils (4–11 years) with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), as well as offering Alternative Provision for pupils at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
The school’s ethos is centred on empowering pupils with self-confidence, respect for themselves and others and the ability to manage their emotional and behavioural needs in a range of settings. Staff work closely with families and external agencies to ensure each child’s holistic needs are supported.
As a SEND TA, you will:
• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Assist in delivering a differentiated National Curriculum, adapted to meet individual needs.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
• Contribute to engaging enrichment activities such as music, sports, enterprise and community projects.
• Work closely with teachers, parents and external professionals to provide consistent support.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience working with children with SEMH or other special educational needs.
• A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
• The ability to build strong relationships and provide positive behaviour support.
• A team player who can adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
