Job Description:
Axcis Education is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Hillingdon, Uxbridge. This full-time role involves providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 student with ASD.
The successful candidate will have experience working with children with Autism in an educational setting, possess strong behaviour management skills, and have the ability to create a calm and nurturing learning environment. The school seeks someone who is firm but fair, able to set clear boundaries while encouraging emotional and academic development.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a child’s educational journey, with the potential for a permanent position following the initial placement.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide 1:1 classroom support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism (ASD).
-Implement behaviour strategies and maintain a calm, structured environment.
-Work collaboratively with the class teacher to deliver a tailored learning plan.
-Build positive relationships with the student, staff, and parents/carers.
-Support the child’s academic, emotional, and social development.
Requirements:
-Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
-Experience working with children with ASD and ADHD in a mainstream setting.
-Confident in managing challenging behaviour effectively.
-Experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs is desirable.
-Excellent communication skills and a proactive, patient approach.
-Full-time availability for the entire academic year.
