Axcis Education is delighted to be working with a warm, inclusive primary school in West Drayton that celebrates and supports every child’s unique learning journey. The school prides itself on fostering a safe, nurturing, and communication-rich environment, particularly for pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The mainstream Primary School is currently seeking a kind, proactive, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Specialist Communication Class, with a specific focus on supporting Year 6 pupils. This role requires someone who is very familiar with the UK national curriculum and proficient in delivering English and Maths support at Key Stage 2 level.
You will work collaboratively with the class teacher and two other Teaching Assistants to provide structured, responsive support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, and other complex learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions for Year 6 pupils in English and Maths
-Provide academic and emotional support tailored to EHCP goals
-Help pupils stay focused, regulated, and engaged throughout the school day
-Support communication development in a language-friendly classroom
-Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
-Assist with personal care tasks where required (e.g., toileting)
-Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils, staff, and families
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, or complex learning profiles
- Confidence working with Year 6 learners and strong understanding of the UK curriculum
- Proficiency in KS2 English and Maths support
- Calm, empathetic approach to challenging behaviour
- Willingness to support personal care needs as part of the role
- A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- A team player with a proactive, patient, and nurturing attitude
