Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Full-Time 1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEND (ASD, SLD, MLD, Global Delay)
Location: Brent
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:20am – 3:30pm (term-time only)
A specialist primary school in Brent is seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 teaching assistant to join their team from September on a long-term, full-time basis. The school caters to pupils with a range of severe learning difficulties, including ASD, Global Developmental Delay, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD).
The developmental age of pupils ranges from approximately 8 months to 5–6 years, and learning is delivered through highly personalised, play-based, and sensory approaches. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with complex needs in a nurturing, well-resourced setting.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with high levels of need
-Assist with communication, regulation, engagement and personal development
-Support the delivery of EHCP targets and therapeutic interventions
-Work closely with the class teacher, SEN Officer, and LSAs to maintain a consistent and inclusive environment
-Promote independence and celebrate each milestone of progress
-Engage in play-based, sensory, and structured learning activities tailored to individual needs
-Classroom Structure
Each class includes:
-1 Teacher
-1 SEN Officer
-1–2 Learning Support Assistants
Supporting 6 to 10 pupils, depending on individual needs
What We’re Looking For
-Experience supporting children with ASD, SLD, MLD, or global developmental delay
-A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
-Confidence with personal care and sensory-based learning
-Familiarity with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables is desirable
-Full-time availability from September 2025 (Monday–Friday, 8:20am – 3:30pm)
-A strong team player who can work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
