Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP or October Half Term
Daily Rate: £89 – £105 per day
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)
About the Role
We are looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant with experience in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) to join a supportive school in Bury, Greater Manchester. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who may face challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation, or mental health.
You will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, ensuring they are given the best possible opportunities to achieve and thrive in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through supportive strategies.
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to deliver personalised interventions.
Encourage pupils’ engagement and progress across all areas of the curriculum.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported.
Contribute to the development of an inclusive and positive school culture.
Requirements
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (essential).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
A proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
A genuine passion for helping pupils reach their full potential.
Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) is desirable but not essential.
