Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Location: Rochdale, Lancashire Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Axcis Education is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a focus on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to join our dynamic team in Rochdale, Lancashire. This role will involve supporting students with diverse and complex needs while also covering teacher absence and planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide instructional support to SEND students under the direction of the class teacher. - Cover teacher absence in the classroom, ensuring continuity of education and support for students. - Work collaboratively with the class teacher during PPA times to develop teaching materials and learning plans. - Adapt educational resources to meet the varied learning needs of students. - Monitor and report on the progress of students to teachers and other relevant professionals. - Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and growth. - Manage classroom behavior and implement strategies to engage students effectively. - Offer additional support with school activities, trips, and events as required. **Essential Requirements:** - Hold an HLTA qualification, TEFL certification, or equivalent teaching qualification. - Teaching experience, preferably with UK-based experience. - Substantial experience working with young people with high levels of special needs. - Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. - Be flexible, patient, and resilient with a positive approach to challenging situations. **Desirable Qualifications:** - Overseas qualified educators with relevant UK experience are encouraged to apply. - Additional training or qualifications related to SEND provision is highly advantageous. **Application Process:** If you are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people with SEND and meet the above requirements, we would like to hear from you.
