Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant
Are you ready to make a real difference every day? We’re looking for a caring, committed Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist primary provision supporting students with learning disabilities and autism, in partnership with a well-regarded special school in Swindon.
The role
Full time: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Start as soon as possible
Initial 16-week settling-in period, then move to permanent
Pay: £13.70 per hour
What you’ll do
Support primary pupils with special educational needs, including autism, in a calm, structured environment
Help deliver tailored learning programmes and work alongside class teachers
Encourage communication, positive behaviour and independence
Foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where every child feels safe, respected and valued
Who we hope you are
You don’t need to have years of experience — what matters most is your attitude, values and personality. We are seeking someone who:
Believes every pupil has potential and deserves respect
Is patient, reliable, and empathetic
Enjoys working as part of a team and wants meaningful work
Is local (or willing to travel in Swindon / surrounding areas)
May be a recent graduate, youth worker, sports coach, support worker or aspiring TA
Why this is a special place to work
This school is a special school serving ages 4 to 19, with pupils who have moderate to complex needs, delivering a curriculum tuned to their individual learning needs.
In its latest Ofsted inspection in May 2024, this setting was judged to provide a good quality of education, with pupils happy and confident that adults look out for them and keep them safe.
This is a genuinely vibrant, values-driven environment — a place where relationships matter, staff collaborate, and pupils are supported to live their best lives.
