Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Learning Support Assistant – SEND School (Exeter)
Axcis Education is proud to be supporting a small, nurturing SEND school in Exeter as it looks to welcome a new full-time Learning Support Assistant to the team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a close-knit, caring environment where every child is given the time and encouragement they need to thrive.
You’ll be joining a class of no more than 8 pupils, working side by side with the class teacher to provide tailored support, reassurance, and positive guidance.
About the school
The school supports around 120 children and young people aged 6–18, many of whom have EHCPs linked to SEMH needs, autism, and high anxiety. Some are school refusers, so patience, consistency, and a calm approach are key. The children are highly vulnerable, and the school’s priority is their wellbeing, safety, and trust.
We’re looking for someone who is:
• Nurturing and patient, able to adapt to lessons across mixed ability levels
• A calm, steady presence for pupils who may be withdrawn or anxious
• Creative and positive, with a love of the outdoors and hands-on learning
• A team player, bringing commitment and energy to a supportive staff group
The role
• Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
• Long-term position: providing consistency that is vital for the pupils’ progress
• Pay: £86 – £96 per day
• Location: Exeter (accessible by public transport; no on-site parking available)
This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to make a real, lasting difference in the lives of young people who need encouragement, stability, and understanding.
