Job Title: Support Worker in Schools
Location: Coleford, GL16
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:30-3:30
Contract: Long-term
Pay: £14 per hour
Are you someone who cares deeply, stays calm under pressure, and wants to make a real difference for young people with complex needs? We’re looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a special school near Coleford, supporting pupils with PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties), SLD, and other complex needs.
Role Details:
You’ll assist students in all aspects of their school day — supporting communication, personal care, sensory activities, therapeutic programmes, and enabling access to learning in a nurturing, safe environment
About the School / Setting:
This school is a specialist provision in the Forest of Dean area catering to pupils aged 4 to 19 with a range of additional needs.
In its most recent inspection (Feb 2025), Ofsted judged behaviour and attitudes as Good, personal development as Good, and leadership and management as Good.
Inspectors noted there are warm, respectful relationships between pupils and staff, and that pupils feel settled and safe in the environment.
Ofsted
The school enriches pupils’ lives with a wide range of activities — including dance, music, drama, outdoor learning, and social experiences.
The leadership team is working quickly to improve the curriculum so that students' learning is more consistent and better adapted to their individual needs.
Who We’re Looking For:
You don’t need to have worked in a specialist SEND school before. What we value most is your character, your attitude and your drive to help. You could be a graduate, youth worker, sports coach, support worker or previous TA ready for something meaningful.
You’ll bring:
• Patience, empathy and respect
• Calmness, resilience and consistency
• A genuine belief in inclusion and in giving every pupil the chance to shine
• A willingness to learn, adapt and work as part of a team
If you live locally (Coleford / Forest of Dean), this role gives you the chance to work close to home and be part of a caring, committed team.
