Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Primary
Are you looking for meaningful, hands-on work supporting young people with special needs? We have a full-time Teaching Assistant role (8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday) starting ASAP, working in partnership with a specialist primary provision in Swindon. You’ll support pupils with learning disabilities and autism within a dedicated and caring environment. Pay is £13.70 per hour. Why this role matters This isn’t your average classroom role. You’ll be part of a small, specialist school where emotional awareness is valued alongside academic progress. The school uses a curriculum shaped for both emotional and academic needs, with small classes and a high adult-to-pupil ratio, meaning your support has real impact. In its latest inspection (March 2025), the school was praised for good leadership, good behaviour and attitudes, and good personal development. Pupils engage in creative outdoor play, use role-play and “zones of regulation”, and benefit from staff who genuinely understand their social and emotional needs. About the person we’re looking for We’re less concerned about years of experience, and more about who you are: • You genuinely care about children who need extra help and believe in every child’s potential • You bring patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach • You’re proactive, flexible, and enjoy working as part of a small, close-knit team • You like working with structure, while adapting to changing needs • Perhaps you’re a graduate, youth worker, sports coach, support worker, or teaching assistant already — or you’re seeking a fulfilling role making a real difference If you thrive on connection, enjoy celebrating small wins, and want to grow in a specialist environment, you could be the person we need. Role summary • Full-time: 8:30am to 3:30pm, five days per week • Support pupils with autism and learning disabilities • Assist in delivering bespoke learning, behaviour support, social and emotional development • Collaborate with class teachers, therapists and staff • Make learning accessible, encourage participation, adapt resources You’ll be joining a school that is ambitious for its pupils — one grounded in warmth, inclusion and high expectations. Local applicants are encouraged. Apply today to be considered for this role.
